An Excerpt from "Coffee, Cleaning & Kimchi: Getting the details right with television reporter and longtime MFM volunteer Greg Coy"

By Stacey Greenberg, Photos by Chip Chockley

Greg Coy moved to Memphis in 2010 to be a television reporter for Fox 13. He was born and raised in New York, by Jamaican parents. After three months in Memphis, he had gained 15 to 20 pounds. He blames a lack of eating raw vegetables. Greg has been a regular volunteer at the Memphis Farmers’ Market ever since he was stood up by a date nearly six years ago. “The woman never showed up, so I decided to volunteer,” he says. You can find him at the MFM coffee cart every Saturday during the season, starting April 2.

SG: What is your “default” thing to cook when you’re hungry and need to make something fast?

I put kimchi on leftover takeout pizza. It’s so wrong, that it’s absolutely right. [He made us try it, and it is actually really good.]

SG: Will you share a recipe that you cook at home?

Kimchi pizza — Heat up leftover pizza and cut into small pieces. Top with cold kimchi.
