October & November Cooking Classes

L’École Culinaire offers public cooking classes designed for the amateur chef, and this October and November their professional chef instructors will give home cooks a chance to sharpen their cooking skills with classes in Holiday Appetizers, Thanksgiving Sides and More!

When: 

Wild Game: Friday October 21, 6pm-9pm, $95 per person

What do you cook for dinner after the hunt? Learn ways to prepare venison, duck and others without gamey taste. Utilize the fresh flavors of meat in season to create dishes other than chili or jerky. Build on your knowledge of the basics to keep cuts tender without overcooking, season with complementary ingredients and pair with sides. Making great meals means more room in your freezer. Includes instruction, three course meal and wine.

Spooky Treats: Saturday October 22, 11am-2pm, $45 per person

Be the life of upcoming Halloween parties with these fun and frightening recipes. Learn to make cute boo bites and gross life-like concoctions sure to spook your guests. Whether tricking or treating, know that it will all be yummy. Includes hands-on instruction of three recipes. $45 per parent/child pair with a $10 charge for each additional child, up to 3 children

 

Newlywed Cooking: Friday October 28, 6pm-9pm, $180 per person

A great wedding present, this fun and creative date night teaches the bride and groom how to use all those registry gifts. Couples learn basic knife skills and cooking techniques for simple meals and easy entertaining. A chef instructor explores what staples to stock in the pantry and how to cook for two. Put those new shiny pots and pans to work! Includes instruction, three course meal and wine. Price is per couple.

 

Sausage Making: Saturday October 29, 11am-2pm, $65 per person 

Instead of factory packed, store bought brands, learn the art of making sausage from scratch. A chef instructor covers choice ingredients, mixing and grinding techniques, types of casings, safe handling, smoking methods and cooking times. Includes 2lbs. of sausage produced during class, lunch of house-made wurst and sides.

 

Thailand International Series: Friday November 4, 6pm-9pm, $95 per person 

Balance, detail and variety are paramount in Thai cuisine. Emphasis is placed on the complexity of dishes and how color, texture and taste work together in a harmonious single meal. Learn how culture influenced curries, discuss medicinal properties of certain herbs and end on a sweet note. Includes instruction, three course meal and wine.

 

Holiday Appetizers: Saturday November 5 and 19, 11am-2pm, $65 per person 

Get a head start on a very successful and fun holiday party by learning cooking techniques and plating display that will wow your guests. Our instructors provide the recipes and skills to produce classics with a contemporary twist. Includes your fill of various heavy hors d’ oeuvre paired with a signature seasonal beverage.

 

Make-Ahead Thanksgiving Sides: Friday November 18, 6pm-9pm, $95 per person 

Get a jump start on this year’s family feast by prepping as much as possible beforehand. A chef instructor leads the class on incorporating root vegetables in season, savory classics with a contemporary spin and several sides to freeze for next week’s main event.
